Product
- Q: Is my Hive or e*thirteen warranty still valid?
A: Yes. All warranties are still valid and will be honored in accordance with current warranty policies for respective products.
- Q: What happened to Fifteen.G?
A: Because of the brand equity which e*thirteen has in drive-train components it was an easy decision to replace the Fifteen.G brand. As mentioned, current Fifteen.G XC cranks will be re-branded as e*thirteen XC cranks which will be complimented by the new e*thirteen DH cranks. All future mountain components by the Hive which do not fall under Chub Wheelgoods, will be released under e*thirteen by the Hive.
- Q: What’s the status of the Staccato pedals and other e*thirteen products?
A: Currently, we don’t have a estimated finish date for the Staccato project. However, it does have new life breathed into it and will be introduced in the near future. Other projects are being prioritized based on demand. Clearly we understand that the Staccato is highly anticipated and we are as anxious as you are to make it a reality. The original proto’s are STILL taking a licking on our pro product testers bikes – so yes, the hype is justified.
- Q: How is the DIN 32711 based polygon different than square-taper?
A: While we understand the vague visual resemblance to square-taper BBs which the unique polygon connection may conjure up, they are in fact VERY different. Have a look at some info regarding the polygon and the white paper on the current XC cranks to learn more about the benefits. The fact of the matter is that polygon systems provide the highest torque carrying capacity of any drive connection now known – including spline and square taper connections.
- Q: What is up with this new DH crank?
A: Take a look at the NEWS page of this site for all the details.
- Q: I saw the DH crank had different spindle colors, what will be available?
A: Production spindle color will be gold. However, you will see a few green and red spindles from the pilot production run. Green and Red will not be available for sale.
- Q: I see that the new crank has a double option. Whats up with that? Will this be available on the XC/AM crank?
A: Yes, we have a new double option which is a 24-38 gearing – Perfect for Freeriders who pedal up the hill first or for heavy enduro/AM use. Because the 24T will bolt directly to the 38T ring, this ringset will be compatible with either the new DH cranks or current XC Single Speed (no inner ring mounting tabs) cranks.

- Q: Where can I get products from e*thirteen and the Hive now?
A: Currently, you can purchase e*thirteen and products by the Hive through a number of different channels:
- If you are a consumer, our products are available through any of your local bike shops as well as online retailers. Keep in mind, if one seller is out, that does not mean that everyone is. Sometimes certain shops only deal with certain distributors. If you are looking for something and you cannot find it, give us a call and we can point you in the right direction.
- If you are a bike shop, you can continue to purchase product either directly from us or you can order product through our distributors. In the US, distributors currently carrying only e*thirteen product will soon also begin carrying the entire Hive product lineup. Globally, many e*thirteen distributors will also begin carrying other products by the Hive. Within the next month we will announce the updated global distributor network for the Hive.
- Q: When I call the Hive office will I be talking to someone in India?
A: We know the West Coast can be really far away from the East Coast, but no. Still in the good ole’ US of A.=
- Q: Will there still be e*thirteen technical support at the races?
A: Yes. e*thirteen has built a strong reputation for top tier race support. This will not change. The e*thirteen tech support vehicles will now also encompass the Hive brand as well. As is normal any year, venues and specific events may change; so if you have questions about a certain event, just give us a call and we will be happy to give you the low down.
- Q: I’m currently sponsored by e*thirteen and/or the Hive, will anything change? Can I still get grassroots support?
A: For the remainder of 2010 all sponsorship commitments will be honored. For 2011 sponsorship, we will review resumes, good-will and race results to determine sponsorship as we would have any other year for either the Hive and e*thirteen. Resumes should be submitted via regular mail to: The Hive Sponsorship, 405 E. D St. Ste C, Petaluma CA 94952
- Q: If I have questions about current e*thirteen products who should I call? e*thirteen or the Hive?
A: You should continue to call the current e*thirteen phone number – 978.537.9313. Even when the move has been made, this number will simply be forwarded, so you won’t even know the difference.
- Q: Will e*thirteen still produce product in the USA?
A: Yes, All current e*thirteen chain retention products which are currently made in the US will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
- Q: I have been dealing with [insert favorite person's name here - ex. Joe Sixpack] at e*thirteen/the Hive on a regular basis, can I keep them as my contact person?
A: In most cases yes, but in certain scenarios possibly not. For example, Chris Costello of the Hive will take over domestic distributor sales from Jonas Mikolayunas from e*thirteen while Jonas will now be responsible for International OE and Distributor Sales for the entire Hive line. We will shift some duties around so that all the Hive employees now have more specific positions and jobs – in the long run, this will mean better service for you.
- Q: I often see The Hive and Formula Disc Brakes referred to together, what is the relationship between them?
A: Perigeum Development is the official US distributor for both Formula Disc Brakes and products by the Hive. While two seperate entities, the brands are distributed out of the same office in Petaluma, Ca.
